Our Traditional Street Markets
We have years of experience in delivering street markets, indeed most of our people have started out by running a stall on a market themselves – so when it comes to street trading, we know what we are talking about!
Some of our venues across Hampshire and Dorset have proudly hosted a bustling street market for over a hundred years. This has traditionally always been a popular way to buy all manner of local produce and delicacies from the surrounding areas.
In the olden days the Farmers themselves would journey every week into town to sell their wares to the townsfolk. These days however, there are more traders who buy from the farmers to sell on, but they are salt of the earth characters, many of whom can say that the street markets have provided their families with a good living for generations. One thing is for sure, there is still a delightful atmosphere, hustle and bustle, cheery banter and vendors who know their customers by name – it’s fresh, it’s local and the traders are loyal and well known to the community – some of the things lacking in today’s supermarkets.
We have an extensive mix of non-food from fashion, shoes and accessories to bedding, rugs and household goods, pet foods and much more. For those of you who are taking a break for lunch or meeting a friend on a day out there are many quality street food vendors offering locally sourced ingredients in their diverse menus from around the world..
You can browse the stalls in the relaxed and friendly atmosphere, stop a while for a chat with the traders, sit and watch the world go by whilst enjoying a snack and a cuppa or just nip in with your shopping list and grab your lovely fresh produce at bargain prices, then catch the bus home again. The street market really is one size fits all.
If you live in a place where there is no market, give yourself a treat – come and visit one of ours for a great day out.
