What we do is deliver street markets in the South of England, so we call ourselves Southern Market Traders or SMT for short. It’s friendlier that way.

Paul Lewis and James Shanley, co-owners and directors of SMT have a wealth of knowledge and experience of street markets. Both men were street traders themselves for many years. Their larger than life personalities, lots of hard work and long hours brought them success.

They progressed through Market Management or “tobying” as we call it, and eventually on to co-owning the company that has license to run, or manage Classic Street Markets on behalf of or in partnership with the local councils, in 9 major towns and cities throughout Hampshire, Dorset and the Home Counties.

All of our Market Managers also started out as street market traders.

This extensive experience at all levels of the business gives us a very broad base of contacts and a significant database of traders who are always looking for new opportunities to increase their businesses, many of whom have traded every week on our markets for many years. From these we can draw a wide variety of quality merchandise to enhance any street market venue.

In addition we deliver an impressive calendar of highly successful Art, Antiques and Collectibles Markets, including the ones in Winchester, the largest of their kind in the country.

If you are wanting to put on an event for your local community, or to raise money for a good cause that is close to your heart, we can help with that too by organising Food Festivals, Classic Car Shows, Historical and Themed Markets.

We also have the Southern Canopy Company that can sort out your Canopy Hire requirements for your Summer Fayre, Church Fete or School Bazaar. We’ll bring the gazebos along, put them up just where you need them and then come back at the end of the day, dismantle them and take them away.
